News Opinions draft 2

6 women from the Singapore women's Everest team conquered Mount Everest on the 22nd of May, last friday. They were the first Singapore women to ever reach the summit of Mount Everest. It was all thanks to their good teamwork and their huge sacrifices made in money, relationships, family and work. All of them have showcased an indomitable team spirit and unity of purpose worthy of emulation by all Singaporeans.

Opinions:

From this article, all the six women have shown us that unity is strength and that if we work together, we can achieve great things.

All of them carried out their own roles as follows: the leader, encourager, mediator, peacemaker etc. This shows that everyone has their own strengths and no one is useless. Without anyone of the six, the journey would not have been possible!

Without the leader, everyone would not know who to follow, a leader leads everyone in one direction. Without the encourager, everyone may have already lost confidence and gave up the climb. Without the mediator to mediate problems, the whole team would have been all terrified because of one single problem they face. And lastly, without the peacemaker, everyone would have been in big fights and the team would have fallen apart.

All the team members were encouraged to move on because of their determination and their confidence (The confidence in themselves caused them to believe that they were capable of reaching the top of the mountain) Don't you see these qualities are always appearing, confidence, determination, these are our 'energy sources'!

Also, this shows that women are not weaker than men and they can achieve what men can and can do more than that. I think that they have set a good example for all Singaporeans to follow as they taught us to stick together. If everyone in Singapore sticks together, Singapore can become an even greater country. Unity is strength! United we stand, divided we fall. The women would not have suceeded if they had not worked together.

Teamwork and cooperation is something we need in our daily life. Can you imagine if there are no shopping centres and all the shops are scattered all over the place just because owners of the shops do not want to work together in a shopping centre and do not want to share one street? What if one day all over the world there are huge unendable wars because world leaders do not want to cooperate?

Okay, a good example may be when our class discusses things. Some of you may not know, but it is definitely very hard to get the class to discuss properly. Don't speakers get tired of shouting? Don't classmates ever get tired of having a hard time trying to cooperate everytime we do, or discuss things? We would not have this problem if everyone works together. Cooperation will remedy the situation! If we do not cooperate, in the end, everyone will get mad at each other and the discussion would not have been a pleasant one.You see, if everyone had 'stuck' together and cooperated with each other when doing things, we would do it very well!

Story time:!!! (this is an extra it is NOT a part of the comment)

I think many people have already heard this story before but it is linked to what I had said earlier in this post. Sit back and read,

Once upon a time, there lived a rich old man. The old man owned a big factory which produces rice. As he thought it was time for him to retire, he called all his ten sons to come and decide who to pass on the factory to.

"Me father, me!"

"I'm the best, none of my stupid brothers are compared to me!"
....

The old man hesitated for awhile, and then, he said, "I'm handing the factory over, to all of you."

Everyone started complaining. All the ten sons wanted the factory for their own!

the old man shook his head and told the eldest son to take eleven wooden sticks from the yard.

After which, he tied ten of the sticks together and left one. He told his second son to come forward and told him to break the single stick, which was easy of course.

Then, he told his third son, the strongest of them all, to break the bundle of ten sticks. However, no matter how hard his third son tried, he could not break the sticks.

All the sons understood and took on the factory together. They worked hard and became the factory with the greatest rice production rate in the country.

This story shows that when united, we are strong but when divided, we fall easily.
The small little stick was broken so easily but the ten sticks seems inpenetrable.

Hi XE here,

the news that u describe is very clear! i agree that the if everyone work together than we can achieve greater things. If there are no cooperation at all, then i don't think they can achieve anything

i also agree with you that everyone has their own strengths but the only thing is that they have not notice them.

Good job!=)

Both the summary and the opinions were very well described.

I agree that women are not weaker than men as women have our own strength which the men may not have. If we believe in ourselves, anything is possible, as long as we strive hard to archieve our goals.

Anything men can do, women can also do it! :P
