A couple was charged with distributing pamphlets to people in all religions to convince them into converting to their religion. The reason they were convicted was because their pamphlets included some words or sentences that insulted other religions. Those pamphlets were rebellious towards the other religions and has upsetted the public.
Opinion:
Distributing pamphlets to promote your religion is not wrong but when you insult other religions, that is being rude and disrespectful. We all should respect each and everyone's religion even if we do not believe in whichever religion. The couple was being inconsiderate and by insulting other religions on the pamphlets, people will think that the couple is rude and apparently has no manners. This gives people a bad impression of them.
Religion is good in the sense that it leads people to think the right way but sometimes it causes religious conflicts. I think that no matter how angry we are, we should control our anger and not pick on a fight because violence begets violence and nothing good would come out of that.

Based on a survey conducted on Singapore drivers, driving over speed limits and beating the traffic lights when they are glowing amber are Singapore's top two most dangerous driving habits. It was also discovered that many Singaporeans do not know the normal speed limit of Singapore's roads. Only 25% answered 50km/h which was the correct answer.
Opinions:
I think that these drivers are being very inconsiderate and selfish. Everyone gets their turn and I think that they should patiently wait for the amber lights to turn red and then green. After all, the amber lights mean that we should slow down already and not immediately 'grab the chance' and dash across.Speed limit is something very important that keeps the traffic in order. If everyone at the next road is driving at fifty km/h and you happened to be exceeding the speed limit and driving at 70km/h, you won't be able to stop in time and will cause a car accident.
Every year, many people are getting severely hurt or dying because of car accidents. Doesn't it hurt to see news reporting grotesque accidents every few days/weeks? Car accidents are caused because selfish drivers/pedestrians refuse to obey the traffic rules. We should all be road-friendly and obey the traffic safety rules. By doing that, we can create an accident free environment.

News Opinions draft 2
6 women from the Singapore women's Everest team conquered Mount Everest on the 22nd of May, last friday. They were the first Singapore women to ever reach the summit of Mount Everest. It was all thanks to their good teamwork and their huge sacrifices made in money, relationships, family and work. All of them have showcased an indomitable team spirit and unity of purpose worthy of emulation by all Singaporeans.
Opinions:
From this article, all the six women have shown us that unity is strength and that if we work together, we can achieve great things.
All of them carried out their own roles as follows: the leader, encourager, mediator, peacemaker etc. This shows that everyone has their own strengths and no one is useless. Without anyone of the six, the journey would not have been possible!
Without the leader, everyone would not know who to follow, a leader leads everyone in one direction. Without the encourager, everyone may have already lost confidence and gave up the climb. Without the mediator to mediate problems, the whole team would have been all terrified because of one single problem they face. And lastly, without the peacemaker, everyone would have been in big fights and the team would have fallen apart.
All the team members were encouraged to move on because of their determination and their confidence (The confidence in themselves caused them to believe that they were capable of reaching the top of the mountain) Don't you see these qualities are always appearing, confidence, determination, these are our 'energy sources'!
Also, this shows that women are not weaker than men and they can achieve what men can and can do more than that. I think that they have set a good example for all Singaporeans to follow as they taught us to stick together. If everyone in Singapore sticks together, Singapore can become an even greater country. Unity is strength! United we stand, divided we fall. The women would not have suceeded if they had not worked together.
Teamwork and cooperation is something we need in our daily life. Can you imagine if there are no shopping centres and all the shops are scattered all over the place just because owners of the shops do not want to work together in a shopping centre and do not want to share one street? What if one day all over the world there are huge unendable wars because world leaders do not want to cooperate?
Okay, a good example may be when our class discusses things. Some of you may not know, but it is definitely very hard to get the class to discuss properly. Don't speakers get tired of shouting? Don't classmates ever get tired of having a hard time trying to cooperate everytime we do, or discuss things? We would not have this problem if everyone works together. Cooperation will remedy the situation! If we do not cooperate, in the end, everyone will get mad at each other and the discussion would not have been a pleasant one.You see, if everyone had 'stuck' together and cooperated with each other when doing things, we would do it very well!
Story time:!!! (this is an extra it is NOT a part of the comment)
I think many people have already heard this story before but it is linked to what I had said earlier in this post. Sit back and read,
Once upon a time, there lived a rich old man. The old man owned a big factory which produces rice. As he thought it was time for him to retire, he called all his ten sons to come and decide who to pass on the factory to.
"Me father, me!"
"I'm the best, none of my stupid brothers are compared to me!"
....
The old man hesitated for awhile, and then, he said, "I'm handing the factory over, to all of you."
Everyone started complaining. All the ten sons wanted the factory for their own!
the old man shook his head and told the eldest son to take eleven wooden sticks from the yard.
After which, he tied ten of the sticks together and left one. He told his second son to come forward and told him to break the single stick, which was easy of course.
Then, he told his third son, the strongest of them all, to break the bundle of ten sticks. However, no matter how hard his third son tried, he could not break the sticks.
All the sons understood and took on the factory together. They worked hard and became the factory with the greatest rice production rate in the country.
This story shows that when united, we are strong but when divided, we fall easily.
The small little stick was broken so easily but the ten sticks seems inpenetrable.

This is my first compo this year, it is not good. So please comment
Composition: The Hero I had never expected
“Mum, do we really have to move to Uncle Alberto’s?” I queried. Krystyne stared pleadingly at mum with her puppy dog eyes. Mum looked disapprovingly at Krystyne, my younger sister. “I’m not going to fall for that Krystyne. And yes, you must move to Uncle Alberto’s so there is someone to take care of you all until we come back from the one-month business exchange trip to Canada.”
On the way there, the horrible experience of our previous stay at Uncle Alberto’s replayed.
Krystyne and I got down. There was an old sign outside the ‘run-down’ house that read: 44 Dieny Road.
Bats were circling the area. Dad and Mum drove off as we rang the scary doorbell. Dong! There stood Uncle Alberto, but he was smirking, weird. “I’m going to the market and I’ll be back by five, get the dishes done,” He commanded us in a low voice and walked off with a grocery list in hand. “Kathryn, don’t you think Uncle Alberto’s changed. He’s all of a sudden looking different!” Krystyne pointed out. “Krystyne, you knuckle-head, he masks his face everyday, and how do you even know he’s different?” I shook my head at my sister’s senseless statement. The icy wind howled against our necks as the candle on the organ rocked. Dusts and cobwebs covered every inch of the house, it has been a long time since he cleaned it. Big Fat rats scampered everywhere and hairy spiders roamed the ground. I jumped at the sight of the dishes moulded chicken, dried vegetable bits and fowl-smelling plates. I was disgusted, how could Uncle Alberto survive in this house?
The wooden floorboards squeaked and groaned. Suddenly, I felt an unusual chill. My sixth sense told me that someone was behind Krystyne, and me and that the person was up to no good. Krystyne and I stared at each other, we spun around, all coordinated. Not aghostin sight. We shrugged and continued with the dishes. Then, someone locked my arms, I screamed loudly but a cloth was placed over my face and soon muffled me. The air I could take in was getting thinner and thinner. The last thing I heard was Krystyne’s screams before I drifted into oblivion.
“Let me go! What are you trying to do?” I heard Krystyne’s voice. My eyes flickered open and I scanned the surroundings. There were eight men, all tall and muscular. Behind them, were two lab scientists “Hey! Why did you capture us?” I was about to continue when the female scientist cut in, “You and your sister here have a special family trait traced back to the dragons. Your family was a group of royal dragons,” She said as I struggled to free my bound hands and legs. She took a syringe and drew blood from me. I winced and wondered, “What crap was she talking about? We’re no dragons, we’re normal humans!”
Then, someone busted through the room’s door. “Hey! What are you doing to my nieces!” It was Uncle Alberto! His hands were bleeding and his shot leg had big whip scars. He must have been tortured! But look who was behind him, the police. The kidnappers surrendered and it was diagnosed that they were escaped patients from the mental hospital. I also found out that Uncle Alberto did not have to do that, he just had to keep quiet until those people went away with us as they were not after him. He was the hero I had never expected.
So, maybe Mum and Dad were right, he was a good man after all. As for ‘Uncle Alberto’ who was going out to buy groceries, he was an impostor. Although they haven’t caught him, I felt great to be safe again. Although Uncle Alberto was grumpy as always, he was a new man we had not known before, after the kidnap. Had it not been for him, dragon maniacs would have captured us.
